Pet insurance for African Grey parrots

African Grey parrots are truly one of a kind. Their intelligence, personality and uncanny ability to mimic make them one of the most rewarding pets for the right owners. But with their complex needs and long lifespan, keeping them healthy can sometimes lead to hefty vet bills.

African Grey-specific health concerns such as feather plucking, respiratory issues and psittacine beak and feather disease – mean that specialist care is often necessary. That’s where African Grey parrot insurance comes in. The right cover can help you manage unexpected vet costs, so you can focus on what matters most – keeping your feathered companion happy and thriving for years to come.

Insurance for older parrots

We can insure your parrot at any age, as long as they’re over 12 weeks. So whether your African Grey is 12 weeks, or 12 years old, we can insure them, as long as our policy terms and conditions are met.

Can you insure African Grey parrots that have recently been unwell?

We can’t cover your bird if they’ve been to the vet for an accident or illness in the last 3 months. But don’t worry, once they’ve been treatment-free for 3 months and are fit and healthy, we can insure them. Pre-existing conditions won’t be covered in the first year, but after that, we’ll review them based on the policy terms.

As always, cover is subject to our policy terms and conditions.

Do you insure other species of parrots?

Yes! We can cover most parrots, along with birds of prey and small birds like budgies and canaries.
