All pets must be sold in good health at the point of sale – unfortunately cover will not be put in place if this isn’t the case.
Age requirements for pets sold:
All animals (excluding tortoises, small mammals, chinchillas and exotic cats and dogs): Over 12 weeks old.
Tortoise(s): Over 12 weeks old & under 50 years old.
Exotic cat(s) and dog(s): Over 6 weeks old and under 9 years old.
Small mammal(s): Over 8 weeks old & under 5 years old.
Chinchilla(s): Over 8 weeks old & under 8 years old.
We do not cover domestic cats and dogs, horses, spiders, insects, fish, invertebrates, tree pythons/boas due to underwriting restrictions.
Activation of cover must be carried out by the customer voluntarily & with no inducement. Scheme participants must not guarantee insurance cover, request payment or offer discounts for pet(s) sold with or without a voucher respectively, offer any insurance advice or describe themselves as ExoticDirect.
Vouchers are given to individuals for domestic pets only.
Only promotional material supplied by ExoticDirect regarding the voucher scheme may be displayed.
30 day only policies: where death cover is in place and in the event of death, ExoticDirect will provide your customers with a form entitling them to a new pet from yourselves; either a replacement pet or a pet up to the same value. You will need to complete the form and send it to ExoticDirect. ExoticDirect will then pay you the cost as follows:
Death within first 14 days – 60% of retail value*
Death after 14 days & up to 30 days -100% retail value
In the event that a new pet is not available for your customer ExoticDirect will pay the full value to the customer provided that you reimburse ExoticDirect 40% of the retail cost.
ExoticDirect will pay participants commission quarterly, on 15th January, April, July & October by BACs, as follows:
Activated 30 day only policies – 0%.
All annual policies – 10% of the net premium.
All renewed policies – 10% of the net premium (conditional upon the participant introducing new business at least once in the preceding 3 months)
Termination by either party can be made in writing giving 7 days’ notice. Notice to be sent to either the participants registered address or ExoticDirect, 4 Bridge Road Business Park, Haywards Heath RH16 1TX.
